Rooted in the theme of “Moon,” the project draws inspiration from the moonlit landscape scrolls of Southern Song painter Ma Yuan, while integrating the coastal and mountainous character of Taizhou. It creates an immersive residential landscape woven through a poetic lunar narrative—an East Asian aesthetic infused with everyday livability.

Rooted in the cultural fabric of Jiangnan, this project takes inspiration from The Moon and Sixpence, weaving together the quotidian warmth of life (sixpence) and the distant ideal of art (the moon). It creates a high-quality residential landscape that integrates tranquil living, all-age vitality, and nature-based learning—where nature and daily life, and the poetic and the worldly, coexist in quiet harmony.

The project uses a small yet evocative spatial intervention to reflect the character and richness of the entire community. Centered around the concept of the “Qi Pavilion,” the landscape creates a living environment that integrates natural scenery, leisure, and neighborhood interaction, allowing residents to rediscover a slower rhythm of life within the city and reconnect gently with nature and themselves.

Rooted in the ecological landscape of Songshan Lake, the project takes “Verdant Landscapes of Songhu Lake” as its central theme. Framed by two landscape spines — “One River for Living” and “One Creek for Dreamlike Wandering” — the design integrates the aesthetics of traditional Chinese blue-green landscape painting with the spatial character of Lingnan gardens. The result is a contemporary residential landscape that balances vibrancy and tranquility, where everyday living coexists harmoniously with nature.

The Lan Yuan Residential Community by Greentown Chongqing is located at No. 77 Qilong Road, Yubei District, Chongqing, within the city’s established urban core, where access to a complete public park system is limited. Organized around a spatial framework of one central core, three loops, and ten courtyards, the design responds to the needs of residents of all ages. It integrates the poetic character of traditional courtyard living with the functional demands of a contemporary residential community, creating an all-age, livable neighborhood that combines refined elegance with the warmth of everyday life. Within the community, residents are able to enjoy a relaxed daily rhythm and build lasting memories of home.

Set within Chongqing’s old urban core in China, this nested courtyard occupies only 1,600 square meters. It creates a contemplative retreat for tea drinking, conversation, and quiet reflection. Design Highlights A. Ecological water circulation The project significantly reduces the operational cost of its water features through an ecological circulation system. During Chongqing’s summer heat, when temperatures can remain near 40°C for almost a month, the design also helps reduce reliance on air-conditioning. B. A courtyard within courtyards By distilling and reinterpreting principles of classical Chinese garden-making, the project establishes a spatial sequence that feels expansive despite its compact scale: layered, engaging, and rich in movement. C. A meditative urban woodland rooted in place Through the use of regional planting and the spatial language of traditional courtyard dwellings in Southwest China, the project embeds local subcultural character into the site, shaping an urban woodland retreat with a strong cultural atmosphere.

Located in Xinmi, Henan Province, the project is set beside a lake and surrounded by gentle slopes, green open space, and woodland. While the site benefits from strong natural conditions, it also faces two key constraints: a long and narrow layout, and visual disturbance from the disorderly buildings nearby. Inspired by natural canyon landscapes, the design team transforms these limitations through an artistic landscape approach, creating an immersive urban canyon retreat that envisions a future waterfront lifestyle while redefining the site’s spatial experience and aesthetic value.

Rooted in the century-old urban fabric of Yuzhong District and framed by the rare riverfront views of the Jialing River, the project unlocks the full potential of its site to create generous living experiences within a compact urban footprint. Conceived as a next-generation waterfront community, it integrates metropolitan sophistication, natural poetry, and the warmth of everyday life into a distinctive urban riverside destination.

Drawing from the source of water, the spirit of classical aesthetics, and recent reflections on Chinese landscape painting theory, the design team set out to compose a mountain-dwelling rhapsody through a distinctly pictorial way of seeing.

Inspired by the natural character of the South China Sea, the project takes the sea as its ground, waves as its form, and vessels as its spatial motif. It merges this maritime imagery with the client’s pioneering brand spirit, expressing the grandeur of setting sail and embracing all rivers. The design draws deeply from the coastal identity of the site, weaving local references throughout the project—from material expression and construction language to the integration of community life. Through landscape strategies such as borrowed scenery, framed views, and a sequence of shifting perspectives, the project reveals both the expansive spirit and refined elegance of its waterfront setting.
