Design Concept
Guided by the principle of “working with the environment rather than creating a new one,” the design fully embraces the unique mountain-city topography and panoramic river views of Chongqing. With minimalist art as its spatial language, the landscape blends local identity with contemporary urban living, shaping a community where scenic viewing, leisure, art, and family interaction coexist harmoniously. Balancing ecology, aesthetics, and functionality, the project creates a tranquil and poetic living environment amid the energy of the city, offering residents a refined yet emotionally resonant lifestyle experience.
Core Landscape Design
1. Viewing · A Poetic Vision of the Mountain City Through the Seasons
The arrival space uses reflective water features to mirror the surrounding cityscape, while a 3-meter illuminated sculptural halo frames the beauty of the skyline and establishes a strong sense of arrival. A 30-meter waterfront viewing terrace maximizes the panoramic riverfront perspective, combining natural light, shadow, and expansive vistas to create a serene and elegant viewing experience.
2. Wandering · Fluid Spaces Shaped by Time
A sheltered corridor extends seamlessly toward the viewing platform and evolves into a riverside leisure lounge. U-shaped glass screens capture shifting light, greenery, and breeze, forming a poetic spatial atmosphere. Internally, the corridor connects the elevated communal spaces into a continuous lifestyle spine; externally, it expands into an active social terrace equipped with resting areas for neighborhood interaction and leisurely walks.
3. Appreciation · Ripples of Artistic Living
The landscape is composed through a minimalist design language, creating a clear and refined spatial axis. Artistic gestures such as “grass as water, sculpture as accent” lend the space a restrained yet expressive character. Sculptural stepping stones merge planar geometry with three-dimensional artistic forms, enriching spatial depth and evoking the beauty of land art. Warm ambient lighting further enhances the sense of quiet elegance along the homecoming journey.
4. Enjoyment · The Warmth of Childhood Play
At the end of the green lawn, a forest-themed treehouse playground introduces a vibrant children’s activity zone. Featuring swirling spatial forms, rainbow-inspired colors, and a white slide tower, the play area encourages running, climbing, hiding, and exploration. Designed as a place for family interaction and childhood growth, it brings warmth and vitality into the community.
Design Summary
Located along the Jialing River in Chongqing’s Yuzhong District, the project responds to the site’s exceptional natural and urban conditions through a design approach rooted in contextual respect and the integration of nature and art. Through four major landscape components, it establishes a layered and multifunctional community landscape system. The design not only maximizes the value of the rare riverfront views, but also creates an unexpectedly open residential experience within a constrained urban site. Balancing metropolitan vibrancy with natural tranquility, the project successfully delivers a distinctive high-end waterfront living community with ecological sensitivity, artistic expression, and a strong sense of human warmth.
