Design Concept
Guided by the idea of “Moon in the Painting, Meaning in the Realm,” the design inherits the Southern Song aesthetic of emptiness, restraint, and poetic void. The “moon” serves as the spatial narrative thread throughout the community.
Poetic scenes—moonlight filtering through pine forests, reflections over water courtyards, moonlit sandbanks, and moon-welcoming garden spaces—are translated into lived environments. Here, natural landscapes, cultural atmosphere, and daily dwelling are seamlessly interwoven, offering urban residents a calm, poetic place of retreat.
Key Landscape Design
(1) Pine Shadows, Moonlit Valley — Entrance Gorge
The northern entrance is conceived as an opening prologue. Solitary pines, layered rock formations, and linear water features evoke a secluded valley atmosphere. Beneath dense pine canopies, a mountain stream flows gently, while curved stones echo the form of a crescent moon—reinterpreting Ma Yuan’s “Pine Forest, Moon Chant” into a quiet, contemplative arrival space that sets a serene tone for the journey.
(2) Moon Reflected in Water Court — Central Water Axis
The southern courtyard water garden forms the core spatial axis, where water acts as a narrative connector of mountains and seas. The pool base features star-like textures, evoking a galaxy cascading into the water surface. Evergreen plantings, canyon-inspired water features, and tiered waterfalls compress the vastness of nature into an intimate courtyard setting.
A waterside bar extends into open lawns, creating a relaxed atmosphere where the water courtyard mirrors the sky and the starlight dissolves into dreamlike stillness.
(3) Moonlit Sandbar — Light and Shadow Realm
A central mirror water court is designed as the symbolic “sandbar under moonlight,” offering a dual-day and night experience. At night, the water surface becomes a full moon, fragmented reflections shimmering like memory, evoking the poetic line: “The moon today once shone upon ancient men.”
By day, dappled light from Japanese maple trees animates the space, filling it with warmth and vitality—where light and time continuously compose a shifting poetic landscape.
(4) Moonlit Leisure Garden — Courtyard Living
A dual-loop garden circulation system creates layered experiences of openness and privacy. The outer loop frames broader landscape views, while the inner loop offers secluded resting spaces.
Interactive elements such as “stream fishing for the moon” and timber boardwalks for the children’s academy introduce playful natural learning, embedding ecological imagination into childhood. The space supports diverse lifestyles—leisure, social interaction, and family gathering.
Design Summary
Inspired by Southern Song landscape painting and grounded in the geography of Taizhou’s mountains and seas, the concept of the “moon” runs through the entire community.
Through four lunar landscape scenes, classical East Asian poetic aesthetics are transformed into tangible, inhabitable spaces—where culture, nature, and everyday life converge.
The result is a high-quality residential environment that is poetic, serene, and naturally integrated with its surroundings—offering urban dwellers a moment of stillness and authenticity beneath moonlight and sea breeze.
