Design Concept
Guided by the philosophy of “Slow Living for Inner Well-being, Playful Living for Joy,” the design distills the essence of Chengdu’s local lifestyle. It integrates two rhythmic modes of living into the landscape: the calm enjoyment of quiet time and the spirited experience of active leisure.
Structured by a water axis, forested islets, and traditional courtyards, the site is organized into a slow-living relaxation zone and a playful activity zone. These spaces collectively support diverse daily needs—solitude and reflection, neighborhood interaction, parent-child recreation, and fitness—forming a warm, place-sensitive community landscape enriched with local character.
Key Landscape Design
(1) Slow Living · Tranquil Healing Spaces
Central Water Axis Landscape
The central water feature forms the spatial backbone, framed by Jacaranda tree groves to create a serene atmosphere. Timber decking and lounge seating enhance comfort, while layered sensory elements—flowing water, shaded groves, and floral fragrance—establish a calm retreat from urban noise. The water axis also resonates visually and rhythmically with the elevated water landscape beneath the buildings.
Shaded Courtyard for Contemplation
Curved lawns and wooden pathways gently enclose the space, anchored by a sculptural curved bar counter. Designed for meditation, reading, and tea rituals, it offers a quiet refuge for introspection and emotional restoration.
(2) Playful Living · Vibrant Social Spaces
Waterfront Courtyard
A landscape of rippling pools and floating forest islands defines this waterside setting. The sunken courtyard encourages relaxed outdoor living—sitting, basking in sunlight, and listening to birdsong—reflecting Chengdu’s casual riverside lifestyle and enabling close interaction with water and nature.
“Rain Pavilion” Social Lounge
As the primary social node within the floating forest, this elegant pavilion offers a refined setting for light gatherings and conversations. Rain dripping from the eaves and water ripples combine into a natural soundscape, expressing Chengdu’s easygoing and optimistic spirit.
Sun Lawn Leisure Zone
An open lawn framed by Chinese tallow trees and large-leafed Alocasia creates a natural visual composition. A shaded bar counter under the trees enhances the sense of place, forming an ideal setting for informal gatherings and neighborhood interaction.
Cloud Bridge & Glacier Valley Children’s Area
Defined by a floating “cloud bridge” and land-art-inspired glacier valley, this imaginative play zone incorporates a mammoth-themed sculpture. The elevated and varied terrain creates an exploratory adventure space for children, balancing aesthetic expression with play value and activating community vitality.
All-Age Fitness Courtyard
Integrated fitness equipment and seating areas form a refreshing, energetic space that supports daily exercise while fostering a dynamic community atmosphere.
Residential Courtyard Nodes
Soft curvilinear layouts and warm timber paving reinterpret the traditional Chengdu courtyard lifestyle, creating intimate spaces for casual conversations and everyday social interaction among neighbors.
Design Summary
Grounded in Chengdu’s courtyard living culture, the project develops a dual spatial system of “Playful Living” and “Slow Living” to precisely respond to local habits and multi-generational residential needs.
By integrating water landscapes, forested islets, courtyards, children’s play environments, and fitness spaces, the design achieves a balanced rhythm between movement and stillness, speed and slowness—expressing a distinctly Chengdu lifestyle aesthetic.
Ultimately, the project delivers a high-quality, community-oriented landscape with strong regional identity and everyday warmth, allowing residents to discover their own rhythm of life and experience the comfort and ease of Tianfu living.
